Zoe Phillips 13GA - June 2010 Zoe was nominated for being an active member of the Student Council since joining LPGS i.e. for the last 7 years. She has been reliable about attending meetings and worked hard to make things happen for the students. During her time in the sixth form she has taken on a leadership role and been instrumental in the discussions about restructuring the Student Council. Zoe has made a huge commitment to the welfare of the students in all years and has worked tirelessly to make sure the student voice is heard.
Zoe is splitting her £200 equally between the History and Politics Departments. Henrietta Shorter 10LH - May 2010 Henrietta was nominated because she goes the ‘extra mile’ in lessons and helps her friends. She has a great attitude to learning. She is one belt away from Black Belt in Jiu-jitsu for which she trains every day and still fits in her A* work. She regularly trains with her professional swimming club and helps the younger ‘Cygnets’. She is training as a lifeguard and has prevented a girl from almost drowning. Henrietta regularly cooks meals for her wheat-intolerant
family using her food tech skills.
Henrietta would like her £200 to be spent on her Chemistry class going on a trip. Lucy Froggatt 10LH - April 2010 Lucy was nominated because she is a Scout Explorer and volunteers with the younger ones, teaching them valuable skills. She helps out at her dancing school, teaching dance moves. She participates in netball club and went on tour last year. Lucy gives people who struggle extra notes if they miss a lesson and is an inspiration to her form.
Lucy would like her £200 to be spent on a trip to Thorpe Park with her Business Studies class, to have a talk whilst there. Rianne Martin 11GS - March 2010 Rianne was nominated because she has remained positive & cheerful throughout Y11 in spite of having major back surgery. She has continued working on her school work in hospital & while recuperating at home. In her January Science exams she got 100% in Biology, 100% in Chemistry & 93% in Physics. In Biology, she has achieved 100% in all pieces of assessed coursework so far. Rianne is an outstanding student.
Rianne is spending her £200 on a new printer for the Technology Department (possibly an A3 card printer). Charlotte Dillon-Hearne 10LS - February 2010 Charlotte was nominated because she is an inspiration to others. She always participates and contributes well in every lesson. She can be relied upon to be there if you are in need of a friend. Charlotte helps in the community e.g. with Brownies for her Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Charlotte has decided to give £100 each to the Music and History departments. Poppy Robertson-Lingham 13D - January 2010 Poppy was nominated for making an invaluable contribution to the work of PLS. She acts as a mentor to younger students, especially Y7, and understands their needs. She helps to run the weekly Social Club held in PLS on Thursday lunchtime and is an excellent role model for the students who attend.
Poppy is giving £100 to the PLS faculty and £100 to the school library. Annalise Dunsmore - November 2009 Annalise was nominated for this award before she died. She was nominated because she never complained about her significant health problems and attended school whenever she was able. She worked to the best of her ability and had achieved success in the GCSE modules she had taken with A* & A grades. She was an example to us all.
Mr & Mrs Dunsmore would like the £200 to be spent on the Library, to help maintain the environment for others that Annalise so appreciated. Laura Chapman 9LM - October 2009 Laura was nominated because she is an amazing person, a model student and an extraordinary girl. She works hard to keep the peace in her tutor group and always does her best for others.
Laura is giving £100 to Design Technology and £100 to Gardening Club Amelia Crow 12A - September 2009 Amelia was nominated because she has been a very good, hardworking student throughout her five years at LPGS and is an amazing role model. She has done well in her GCSEs, achieving all A & B grades.
Amelia has chosen to divide her £200 amongst the four subjects she is studying at AS level: English, Media Studies, Graphic Communications and Textiles. Eleanor Taylor 10GG - June 2009 Eleanor was nominated for the support she has given another student. Each week, without fail, she takes her History book to have it copied for a student who attends just a few lessons each week due to ill health. Eleanor writes clear instructions about homework and what was discussed in class. She and a number of others spend social time helping the other student to feel included and part of school life. In addition, Eleanor always puts 100% effort into her work and her efforts are truly inspirational. She is kind and friendly to everyone she meets. She takes part in lots of clubs outside school and is doing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme into which she’s put exceptional effort.
Eleanor used her £200 towards the costs of a group of township children from Cape Town, South Africa, visiting our school 1st – 4th July 2009. Charlotte Hope 11GR - May 2009 Charlotte was nominated for being an exemplary student in Textiles. She has worked consistently hard over her two year GCSE course. She goes beyond the classroom in her thinking, being inventive in resourcing her original work. This means her ideas and products are 100% genuinely followed through with initiative and creativity.
Charlotte gave her £200 to be used for resources in the Textiles Department. Sarah Francis 10SH - April 2009 Sarah was nominated for representing LPGS at the ‘Speak Out!’ final on 18th March. She achieved this by training & competing in 2 heats at the school. She has spoken to crowds of hundreds of people showing wit, humour & intelligence. As a Bromley finalist, she represented LPGS really well showing many fine qualities in the process.
Sarah gave £100 to the English department to buy books and £100 to the GCSE DT Resistant Materials course for which a camera has been purchased. Roxanne Browne 12F - March 2009 Roxanne was nominated for being the group leader of her very successful young enterprise group, Y2E, which has run both a gig & masquerade in the past 6 months, with another event at Easter. The group has been so successful that it is becoming a ‘real’ business & hopes to use the success to organise a charity event. Roxanne is a Y12 prefect & achieved very highly in her recent AS levels. She has shown continued commitment to the school over the past 5 years, having been on Student Council every year. She is a pleasure to be around, with a wide group of friends across the year group.
Roxanne is putting her £200 towards the South African children’s visit to our school in July. She went on a Performing Arts trip to South Africa, working with township children, and wants to give them the same experience. Leila Batchelor 9GS - February 2009 She was nominated because she is hardworking & has achieved Gold Merit Awards. She is also on the ‘Wall of Fame’ for Maths. She helped with the science bird box last year, is always up for a challenge & takes her work further.
Leila has chosen to spend her £200 on ukuleles for the Music department.
Ella Hubbard 11LG - January 2009 She was nominated because she has worked incredibly hard, very consistently, for five years. She manages to find an appropriate
balance between academic work & extra curricular activities. She is a member of two school bands & went on tour with one to Leipzig. Ella has reached grade seven playing the trumpet & attends tap dancing lessons just for fun. She also finds time to volunteer at Oxfam after school.
Ella has given her £200 to the History department to do with it what they think is most appropriate.
Amy Barr 8SF - December 2008 She was nominated because she is dedicated and involved in lots of community work. She always does things for charity and started her own charity called ‘Talk Talk Tanya’. She helps to get through to bullies.
Amy is spending her £200 on a class set of ‘Lord of the Flies’ for English
Frances Landreth Strong 13M - November 2008 She was nominated for her excellent performance in Art & Design and Photography. She is hard working, committed and always willing to help, in particular the Y9 art students. She inspires others with her passion for art. Frances is friendly, open to criticism and is a genuinely nice person, who is a pleasure to know. She is a dedicated member of the school community.
Frances is spending her £200 on the Art department, using it to fund a research trip for the A level art classes to make observational studies on location, for the exam unit, around March 2009. Samantha Singer 9KA - October 2008 She is an incredibly hard-working student who puts in a huge amount of effort and always does more than expected. She is a very good member of her form and the rest of her classes.
Samantha is using her £200 to take the students who learn Mandarin on a visit to China Town in London. Helen Shingler 12H - September 2008 She achieved excellent GCSE results & continued to be involved fully in extra curricular activities like Drama, in spite of a number of personal physical challenges including surgery last year and ongoing treatment for a very serious illness. She is positive, friendly, modest, hardworking & a role model for all LPGS students.
Helen gave her £200 to the Drama Department. Kayleigh Fox 10GG - June 2008 Kayleigh is an exceptionally hardworking student who has consistently received gold merit awards for effort. She is an active member of band, playing flute, & attends choir both in and outside school. She is in the chorus for ‘Les Miserables’ in July. Outside school she teaches 4 younger people to play the piano. Kayleigh did a presentation to the Y9 parents and students at the KS4 options evening. She is an active member of Christian Union and has won a writing competition this year.

She is a conscientious, hardworking and committed student
She is an active member of Science Club
She is responsible for helping to set up the camera in the bird box (which can be viewed on the school website)
She has taken on the role of a Learning Consultant
